Our values

Each year we organise the annual Mayor’s Charities cycle ride on behalf of the local property industry with the core aim of raising a significant amount of money which these charities wouldn’t ordinarily have access to.

The cycle ride aims to capture the interest of companies within the local property industry and is simultaneously both a networking and a fundraising event which has successfully created profitable business relationships as well as raising nearly £200,000 for charity in the four years of its operation.

We at the Brighton & Hove Property Consortium volunteer our time to arrange everything including the cycle route, marketing the event within our city, arranging hotels, securing corporate sponsors and organising the branding of cycle jerseys and support vehicles to name a few. We also feature as an event as part of the Brighton Fringe festival and assist them with their street festivities in New Road on the first May bank holiday weekend which marks the completion of our event as we arrive into New Road each year beneath the Fringe archway.

Cyclist safety is also paramount to our events as is promoting health and cycling as a means of getting around whilst being enjoyable and ultimately raising as much money as we can. Ensuring that we meet all of these objectives requires detailed and focused planning from our whole team and we rely heavily on the donation of their time.

We are in challenging times in terms of funding available for our much-needed local community resources.  By tapping into corporate funds which would potentially be spent in other directions enables us to focus attention on companies’ Corporate Social Responsibility and how it can make a significant difference to those most in need.
